Group Life Assurance (GLA)
Our Group Life Assurance benefit is designed to protect our members and ease the financial burden placed on the families they leave behind. When a member passes away, their beneficiaries rely on timely and reliable financial support; support that forms a critical component of the deceased member’s overall employee benefits.
As an insurer, we take this responsibility seriously. Our Group Life Assurance cover is provided to safeguard the welfare and dignity of our members’ dependants, particularly during life’s most difficult moments.
The benefit provides a lump‑sum payment to beneficiaries upon the death of a covered member, subject to the policy terms and conditions. The amount payable is calculated as a multiple of the member’s annual pensionable salary, ensuring meaningful financial support when it is needed most.
Group Disability Cover
Life is uncertain, and serious illness or injury can have profound financial consequences. Our members need the assurance that, should they become unable to perform their occupational duties, their financial stability will not be compromised.
In many cases, permanent disability can have an even greater financial impact than death, income ceases, yet personal and household expenses often remain unchanged or increase due to medical and care‑related costs.
Protecting a member’s ability to provide for themselves and their family is therefore central to the disability benefits underwritten by Moruo
Permanent Disability – Lump Sum Benefit
The lump‑sum disability benefit is designed to financially protect members who, due to severe illness or injury, are permanently unable to continue working.
Once the relevant medical criteria for permanent disability are met, as assessed by an appropriately qualified medical specialist, a once‑off lump‑sum payment is made to the member, providing long‑term financial support and income replacement.
Temporary Disability – Recurring Monthly Benefit
There are instances where members are temporarily unable to perform their duties as a result of illness or injury, but are expected to recover and return to work. During this period, members may be unable to earn an income.
Following an assessment by an appropriately qualified medical specialist to confirm the temporary inability to perform work duties because of the nature of the disability, the temporary disability benefit is paid as a monthly income for the approved period, offering essential financial support while the member recovers.
Group Funeral Cover
Members work tirelessly to provide for their families. However, the sudden loss of a loved one often brings unexpected financial pressure at an already emotionally overwhelming time.
Funeral cover exists for one simple reason: to help families say goodbye with dignity, without the added stress of sudden expenses. Financial strain should not compound the pain of bereavement.
Our funeral cover is designed in line with our clients’ needs and may include the following benefits:
- Lump‑sum cash payment on the death of the main member
- Lump‑sum cash payment on the death of a member’s spouse
- Lump‑sum cash payment on the death of specified dependants, such as children.
The sole purpose of the funeral benefit is to meet short‑term costs, including funeral, burial or cremation, and transport expenses. Once all required documentation has been submitted, Moruo Life commits to disbursing valid funeral claims within the specified timelines, ensuring prompt support for affected families.
Stability & Trust
This is more than a policy to us – it is a sacred promise, one we honour with intention and compassion every single day.
